Hi guys,
I recently joined this site on the 1 May 2011 - I take part in some of the challenges on the site for weightloss- such as 10lb May weightloss challenge and the summer weightloss challenge and saw the biggest drop in my weight in the first two weeks!
I lost 10 lbs between 1 May until 12 May which was great; however! Now I can't seem to budge the scales - I know I should be proud of my weightloss so far and this, that, and the other, but I feel like giving up! Because everytime I try to lose weight, after a few weeks, I stop losing completely! Not to mention I am letting my teams down who are doing a fantastic job in these challenges!
Now, is this a plateau or is this normal? Is there anything I could do to get back to losing loads of weight fast again?
Help Help Help!!! (if you dont mind?)
Kind regards,
Gina

If you've lost 10bls in 11 days, the chances are extremely high that it was a water weight loss (if you start drinking more water your body doesn't try to hold onto its reserves of water so much). In the initial stages a lot of people do see major weight losses, but this shouldn't be expected in the medium to long term - a healthy rate of loss is 1-2 lbs a week, and if you're losing more than that it's quite likely that you're losing either water weight or lean body mass (people who are extremely overweight can lose up to about 3lb a week healthily).
It's normal to see a flattening out of your weight loss at this point, and for you to stay around the same weight for a while. This is normal, and not something to be concerned about. Make sure that you stick to the calorie goal suggested by MFP and continue eating healthily and drinking plenty of water every day. I'd suggest trying this for about 2 weeks, and if you don't see the weight loss starting again at this point, ask people for suggestions again at that point (opening up your food diary would also let people make more informed suggestions).0 -
normal..we usually lose a lot at first then taper down..just keep at it0

yeah... what everyone else has said....
also, don't try to eat under your calories to speed up your weight loss, because it will only make it worse by stopping it completely - or even make you gain
so stick to your allowance AND eat back your exercise calories
