I'm confused. I just ate some bread and butter pickles ( the no sugar kind) and it says 0 calories. How is that possible, don't cucumbers have calories?

So cucumbers are 8 calories for a 1/2 cup... 16 calories for an entire cucumber (smallish). So not very many calories there! If the serving size was 4 slices and there are 16 in a whole cucumber, that could be considered less than 1 or 0... it's all about portion size with zero calorie stuff.0

According to the FDA rounding rules if a food has less than 5 calories it can be labelled as 0 calories.
Here is the FDA labeling guide http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/GuidanceDocuments/FoodLabelingNutrition/FoodLabelingGuide/ucm064932.htm0
