I work out on an elliptical, changing speed and resistance to match my music. My machine gives a calorie count that is higher than the estimate on the exercise log here. Which should I go by?

I have a HRM and it seems like the elliptical over-estimates calories burned. I would say go with the lesser of the two

best thing i could suggest is get a Heart Rate Monitor, best thing i ever did, shows just how far out the machines are at the gym

Since I simply can't afford a HRM right now, if I use a machine -- I tend to go with those calories. It knows how fast, how much resistance, etc you've done whereas MFP is just guessing. If you aren't comfortable with the number - do something between the two and be careful about eating back your exercise calories (maybe only eat 1/2 or 3/4 back vs all of them). :)
