Chocolate Animal Cracker Binge Meltdown. WHY?!

Why, after 43 successful days and 19lbs of loss, did I just blindly eat 3.5 servings of chocolate animal crackers (about 56 crackers) after measuring out only 1 serving? I blindly dug into the bag like I hadn't eaten in days. Now I only have 214 calories left for the day. So bummed. Can't figure out why I would let down all my progress and my discipline to do that. It was like I was out of control on "binge" autopilot! Now I'm most definitely going to be over for the day. I've been sticking to the MPF guideline of 1200 calories per day for the past 43 days (minus Easter).
Option1: Exercise (so freaking hot, I'm going to pass)
Option2: Suck it up knowing that I'll go over today, hide the animal crackers and get back on the wagon tomorrow.
I'm not even satisfied. I think I was craving something like a chocolate sundae or something. <sigh>

Do some kind of workout. It'll make you feel better. Even if you run up and down your stairs for 20 minutes!
And throw the cookies away! If you hide them, you'll find them!
But most importantly, keep in mind that it's just. one. day. This will not ruin the progress you've made. You can eat healthily for the rest of the day and can start with a clean slate tomorrow.
You can do this!0 -
First things first at least you caught yourself. Imagine yourself before this weight loss journey you probably would of never measured out the one serving, you would of eaten 3.5 servings and not of held yourself accountable or self-loath and continue the binge all night, so you are already doing well by catching yourself.
Now as for what to do in this situation is up to you but if chocolate animal crackers are one of those things that you just can't control your portions, I would throw the rest away. I know it wasteful but I would rather waste it in the trash than have it hang around on my thighs lol. Maybe do a light exercise to gain a extra calories so you don't go as far over your calorie goal as you would without exercise, I think that would be a good compromise.0 -
Don't beat yourself up over this!! You certainly didn't ruin everything just by eating a little mindlessly. Think about why you did it, what you could do differently next time, use it as a learning experience, and move on.
Also, if I may say. 1200 calories a day for 43 days straight seems a bit overly restrictive to me, and it does seem like part of you might be starting to rebel against that. Maybe up your calories a bit (1350 or 1400?) and use those extras to treat yourself a bit every day. Just a couple squares of really good chocolate or a small cup of frozen yogurt or something. The psychological aspect of this journey is just as important as the physical, part of your goal should be to find a balance that works for you. :flowerforyou:0 -
Well you fell off the wagon and its ok sometimes we need to go a little crazy and eat something we know we should not. Don't beat yourself up we all do it. I would just carry on with my day and forget about the little indiscretion. Sometimes adding some extra calories even helps to jump start the metabolism again.0

I had one of those days last weekend, and I've only been here for 2 weeks now. I had a taste for something and couldn't figure out what I wanted so I ate whatever I could get my fingers on... Reese's Peanut Butter cups, Pinapple Juice, Ginger Ale, Gummy Bears, Hot Cheetos... and I didn't stop there. NOTHING satisfied me... but to my suprise when I checked my weight on Wed (my check in date) I had lost my 2 lbs for the week... I have a sweet tooth now, but I think its because I am bored and like you its waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy to hot to go outside.0

Try adding fruit and vegetables to your diet. Consider a vitamin supplement and omega 3-6-9 supplement. You'll have fewer craving attacks. Just take this as a warning sign that you may be missing some nutrients.0

You've done great for 43 days! That's the takeaway. You had a craving and you gave into it, that's all. Think about all the cravings you've tuned out over the last 43 days! The percentages are hugely in your favor. Now get back on track...0

Thanks everyone for your help and advice - I was so upset about it I needed to post it and was hoping for some encouraging words which I definitely got. I am going to get back on the wagon tomorrow and pre-portion all the crackers in ziploc bags.0
