I am so confused about dieting. My first 10lbs came off so easily. Now I'm still following my plan and for about 2wks I didn't loose anything. Finally yesterday I went out with my sisters and we ate bread with butter and ice cream. I went over my calories for the day by almost 1,000. I got on the scale this morning scared of how badly I sabotaged myself last night and lo and behold I lost another pound! What the heck is that about? I happy, but confused! Anyone with similar problems?

I don't consider that a problem. I eat over by around a 1,000 to 1,500 each Friday. It works for me.

I was not losingt- I just started a month ago- lost 3 one week, 1 the next and 2 weeks with nothing... Do you have your goal set at 2lbs lost per week or 1lb?

MFP's told me to lower mine to 1lb per week goal... so I did that since friday- we will see what next week has in store :)

I found that I have been on a plateau since Feb and then I stopped counting calories and just ate sensibly and I am loosing again, as long as you work out at least 5 times a week, well that's whats doing it for me

From what I have read, as you are on a calorie controlled diet the level of the hormone Leptin goes down. It is one of the main hormones in charge of fat loss. When it gets low enough your fat loss will stop. Eating a lot for a day, especially the stuff that people often over eat on (pizza and the like) will shoot that Leptin level all the way up again, and you will start losing weight again. My guess is that is what happened here.
