Zig-Zag

I am thinking of moving to a zig-zag diet plan ... it will lower my estimated weight loss to one pound per week (unless I exercise, which I intend to do anyway.) According to what I see, it also allows a more varied allowance of calories ... I know it will require a daily effort to review my diet goals so I can track (which to me means paying more attention to what I am doing than it has meant in the past.)
Just wondering who else has used this method in relation to the MFP site. Have you gone in daily to change your diet goals to help with tracking? or have you just tracked and ignored the fact that it tells you that you aren't on track or went over or under its recommendations?
I know there has to be an 'easy' way to track this type of system, just wondering what other Zig-Zaggers have found that works for them...
