I'm starting it tomorrow. It does recommend you have hand weights...not sure how much they get used since I'm only starting it tomorrow...but...you'll need those and 'a mat if you are exercising on a hard surface' according to the DVD's back cover! LOL

I use 3 and 5 pound weights. I don't have any before and after pics, but I lost 10 inches doing it!...that's all over my body

If you put in the time and effort it definitely works! I saw amazing toning and defining. I didn't actually see a huge loss in weight, but I did see significant losses in inches and HUGE gains in stamina.

All you need are 3-5 pound weights. It's pretty much like any other exercise program. If you'll actually do it and stick with it, it works. I loved it especially since it was less than 30 minutes. It's really hard to NOT find 30 minutes in a day to do it! :)

Yes it works... I use it to complement my endurance running.

A couple of handweights and some determination\dedication is all you need.

I've been doing the 30DS for a week now, and I absolutely love it. I think they recommend 3-5 pound weights. I'm using 3 lb, but I'm planning on doing a round 2 after I finish so I'll probably switch to 5 lb. You do need the weights because they are an integral part of many moves throughout the dvd ie. cardio, strength and abs. Search for 30 day shred results on here, some people's results are beautiful. You notice it more if you're already closer to a healthy weight, or your goal weight, although there have been some really heavy people who have completed it and there is still a major difference. I can already tell that my butt has lifted and firmed a bit, and my arms and thighs are tighter as well. If you are planning on starting it, make sure you take before measurements and pictures, as with this workout you tend to lose A LOT of inches. Good luck!

You need a mat and weights. I started with a folded quilt and 2 bottles of water for weights. I am on my second round of 30DS still doin the easier level. I am 51 yrs old and weigh 97kg (213lbs). The first round I lost 3.5kg ( 7.7lbs). My youger friends have had better results from it. I find it hard and I have to modify some of the moves. But why did I come back to it. It makes me feel strong and good. Certainly give it a go. Listen to your body and take rest days, and also modify moves if in too much pain. The jumping jacks and jump rope in level 1 affects many peoples knees, so if you need to jog on the spot instead. Good luck and have fun.

I lost ten pounds and seven inches total, and the only other thing I was doing (in addition to eating healthy food and staying under my calorie goal) was walking 2-3 miles three or four times a week, and doing 20-30 min. on the stationary bike on days I didn't get my walk. Oh, and on days I was feeling especially peppy (maybe 10-12 days out of the 30), I did two levels back to back.

I do have pictures, but I'm not ready to share them yet. :blushing: I notice a difference, but mostly just look tighter and more toned, because I didn't really lose THAT many inches. Not as many as I was hoping, but I DO feel much stronger and fitter. I was thinking of doing another 30 days of just level 3, but I decided to go for No More Trouble Zones (I did it the last two days, and good god) and I'm starting 6 Week Six Pack tomorrow. I don't think I'd have been able to make it through NMTZ without having done 30DS first.

Long story short...yes! It works! :p

I take rest days, in total I will have done 30 days worth of the DVD but spread out over like 40 days total. I think that's the intention of it. Definitely you should take days off and mix up your workouts, because 30DS can feel very intense on certain muscle groups, especially if you are more a cardio than strength person!

I have so far found it to be a great, quick workout (on L3D5 today I think). The speed which my fitness increased especially in L1 was incredible, going from barely able to do any of the moves with 1lb weights to easily keeping up with the difficult versions with 3lb weights in a matter of days. The best thing is, because it requires very little equipment you can always remember your favorite moves and do them seperately to build muscle where you want to without doing the full workout, making it a great on-the-move workout. It also requires barely any floor space.

If you are up for it, I recommend you do additional cardio like running, elliptical or swimming on top of 30DS on some days. The way I use looks vaguely like this on a normal week:

    Monday: 30DS + 20 mins elliptical + 40 mins walk
    Tuesday: 30DS + 40 mins elliptical
    Wednesday: 30DS + 60 mins walk + 15 mins weights
    Thursday: rest day
    Friday: 30DS + 20 mins elliptical + 40 mins walk
    Saturday: 30DS + 40 mins walk + 15 mins weights
Sunday: 50 mins elliptical + 40 mins walk

Which seems to work nicely, means I can keep my body guessing a bit and I don't want to throw Jillian in the bin.

I think its a wonderful program if you do it 5 times a week in addition to a few days of strength training and maybe even a couple days of extra cardio (if you are trying to lose weight). By itself I don't think it is enough.

    Oh yeah it works!

Tonight will be day 5 and i can already feel and see a difference! I maintained weight this week though, im guessing thats water in my muscles as my legs and calves are really sore.

This morning though, i stretched up my arms when i woke up and my arms are really toned especially around the shoulders :-)
