Hello

OK, I'm Mark. Until I was 17/18 I was very fit but I've let myself go and I've been content(ish) to be overweight all of my adult life. I'm 44 now and I've had enough of being overweight. I've done loads of exercise programmes before but I've always had my mind on muscle gain rather than weight loss, so too much weight training and not enough cardio, and I've always eaten to compensate any exercise I've done. I've been putting off doing a food diary now for a few years, but having started it on Saturday my eyes have been opened to how powerful a tool this is. From now onwards I'm recording everything that goes in my mouth, and I'm going to exercise to earn more calories if I want to eat something "bad".

I have two goals.

1] To lose two stone by Christmas. That gives me about 7 months to do it. I could do that at 1lb/week but frankly I'd rather do it a 2lb/week if I can so I can live to a maintenance diet rather than a weight loss diet sooner rather than later.

2] To be able to run 5km. I'm currently running 2km's without stopping. I've been at it for three weeks. I can run over 3km on a treadmill, but this goal is real "on the street" running. I haven't set a time limit on this goal but once I've achieved it there will be another milestone I'm sure.

I can be found all over the web, I'm most active on twitter as @markhendy but I have runkeeper and loads of other social media accounts nearly always under the /markhendy username. Look me up and connect. Lets inspire each other, but be warned, I don't do failure.

TTFN

Mark
