P90x Resistance Band in stead of Pullups

I wondered how people used bands instead of the pullup bars? Where do you hook them to get resistance?
Hubs and I started P90x Lean this morning with core synergistics. Definitely challenging, but fun. Pretty sure the other workouts will be more brutal. Dreya and her roll can get outta here! j/k

We mostly use the resistance bands. Pre-view the DVD and you'll see that they show you how to use the bands. We have them hooked over a door in our family room. Also, you can step on them and pull them up.0

In the chest and back video they have them over a pipe/rafters on the ceiling and the guy using them sat down on the floor and pulled them in towards his chest. He adjusted his grip based on the exercise the others were doing. Kind of difficult to visualize from my explanation, but easy to see from the video.0

Do a google search for resistance band door attachment. I got mine on the beachbody site, but I can't remember under what program.0

Congrats to you and your husband for starting p90x. I just finished my first round on Sunday. I did the lean version like you are doing. I used the resistance bands for most of the program.
You'll need to attach them to the top of your door or something similar and get on your knees to simulate the pull-up. Best of luck and enjoy the program. I'm headed back for round two, this time Classic on June 6th!
Loving those Dreya Rolls!!! LOL!!0 -
hahaha, that dreya roll! those were my thoughts exactly when i first started. i attach a door anchor strap to my resistance bands. works very well. still working up to the pull up bar. best wishes!0

Haha, yeah the Dreya roll is pretty challenging. I have a closet right by where I work out, and I use the clothes bar in there while on my knees. An adaptation with bands instead of the bar is shown, so you will get an idea of how to do the exercise. I actually don't have a place in my house to put the pull up bar, but I probably have to work up to using one anyway.0

My only comment is to give the Classic version a try. The program was designed that way. The Lean version was a complete after thought. put together for those women that feared getting bulky. It is essentially impossible to women on a calorie restricted diet to gain appreciable muscle. From my experience, your results will be much better and so will your husbands.
My two cents

I watched the chest and back video, which brought up the question. We do not have pipes or rafters in my bonus/workout room. How do you hang them over the door?0

My husband used the pull up bar and I used the bands. I just put my bands through the pull up bar. Worked perfect.0

There is an extra attachment that you can use in order to hook it over a closed door. Maybe Big 5 Sporting Goods or Sports Authoriity carries it. They have extra bands at those stores as well.0
