I am leaving today to go visit with family (5hour drive from here) for about a week. I wont have access to a PC much so I wont be able to keep track. If it were only a few days I wouldnt worry too much, but its almost a week and that can really affect my progress. I plan on trying to stick with mostly fruits and veggies. Im going to go see the aunt that I am in competition with (and im winning btw) and maybe we can hit the gym. Ive never been to a gym before. I am going to bring my HRM as well. Any other suggestions?

You can still write your food and calories down by hand....
I did that for months before finding MFP. Royal pain in the *kitten*, but works just as well.

If you know what types of food you usually eat with your family, maybe work out a list of portion options to help you stay on track calorie wise. Also, write down your food. If you get carried away it will be a way to catch yourself early on during the week. I would also find a set of exercises online or in a magazine. Something you can do in a small amount of space every day.

Yeah, as said above, when I go away from a computer, I usually take a small notebook and pen, and plan out my meals, and log all my calories. I actually like getting to hand write!

Another trick that works well for me when we are eating out in restaurants all the time is to go "low carb" - so I stick to soups, salad with chicken, etc.

    Enjoy yourself!

I was away from my PC and MFP for over a week in July and actually managed to lose weight and I wasn't able to do my normal workout ONCE.

I was careful and have learned over the last few months how to eyeball correct portions and I ate slowly and stopped when I was full. I also made sure to have enough healthier snacks around, like Fiber One bars (to keep me full) and some other items. I would eat out and have fun sometimes, but the majority of the time, I tried to eat my "usual".

And like others have said...brothy soups, salads with dressing on the side (and not a lot of junky stuff on top) are always good choices. Grilled fish, chicken, etc...

My grandparents make tuna fish with real mayo and had that waiting for me when we got out to Oregon in July. With chips and pickles, etc. I had ONE piece of bread with a little of the tuna on it and pickles. And I drank a ton of water. That night they had spaghetti with meat sauce. I was able to put about 1 cup of pasta on my plate and just enough suce to give it flavor. I had ONE piece of bread with nothing on it and just dipped it in the sauce.

My point is, you CAN have what everyone else is having..just use what you have learned about portions and you will be ok! :) And move when you can! Go for walks, do situps, pushups, squats, lunges. These are things you can do ANYWHERE!

    HAVE FUN!!!!

This probably won't work for an entire weekend, but when I am unable to log my food right away, I take a picture with my cell phone. Then when I get to the computer I have a more accurate account than my memory. You'd be suprised when I look at the pictures how often I think, oh yeah, I'd forgotten I ate that.

People in restaurants must really think I'm nuts taking a picture of my bowl of soup.

     Just kidding! Have a great trip and don't stress it. Eat 'well' and do whatever 'exercise' you can, and when you get home, start back hardcore. :flowerforyou:
