Want to lose weight AND tone - What first?

OK, I'm sure this question has been answered ad infinitum but I'm going to ask it again. I want to lose weight and tone up and I realize that the two are not exclusive of each other, but what should I do first?

I've started the C25K program and am making some progress and seeing weight loss. I'd like to lose about 50 pounds and tighten things up. I'd like to start a toning/weight lifting program this week and I want to get some opinions. Should I just concentrate on the cardio first and wait until I lose some more pounds before I start the toning? Or, can I do both? Will I see (that's the key word) more results if I wait a little longer to start lifting weights? The program I'm starting has 11 different exercises, 3 sets of 12 reps with light weights (squats, rowing, curls, dips, flys, etc.) and I'm supposed to do 60 seconds of light cardio in between each one. I'd do this every other day with the C25K on the opposite days.

I'm working my way up to the 30DS and then into P90X.

I'm really trying to find something sustainable because I fell off the proverbial wagon 18 months ago and gained back over 25 lbs. I'm serious this time but want to do it right.

Thanks in advance for your replies and sorry if I'm making people repeat themselves.

Edited to add: :blushing: Duh! I just found a post by someone else asking the same question. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/247298-cardio-vs-strength-training-when-to-do-what
