Okay, I bought a Omron pedometer. I really only bought it to track my calories burn and walking distance. Well....I still can't get it to be "right" I drove part of my walking route, and the pedometer is short changing me. It said 1.78 miles and my car said 2.3. Why such a difference? What am I doing wrong?

Get out the instructions and re-calibrate it for your steps. When you initially set it up, you might have been taking longer steps than you do while you naturally walk- it's kind of awkward to set those things. Also, google map your route to be sure you're odometer isn't a tad off. :)

I was also wondering about how accurate my FitBit was (a pedometer in a sense). Do you have a track nearby? I went to the local high school track to see if it clocked my steps accurately as far as distance and it was spot on.

My Fitbit is actually off by quite a bit --- I know i can calibrate it for my step length, but I'm too lazy to do it (my count of steps is right and it's close to accurate outside). My calorie burn is pretty much right on though - go figure.

Look at the manual to figure out how to program it.

Just curious, is it possible that you are walking a shorter distance than you are driving? If it's a straight stretch then never mind but just thought I'd throw it out there.

I'd say that the step length is wrong. Read the instructions, set all your personal info and then try the walk/drive again (of course your car could be wrong too....).
Have a look at mapmyrun or one of the online running log programs that lets you map a route and tells you how many km/miles if you want to double check.
