I am a resident of Joplin, Mo. Our town was recently a victim of an EF4 tornado. The stories that are coming out of these areas are so tragic and others are so inspiring that you can't help but be emotionally charged. I don't want to talk about diets or calories, any of that tonight. I work for a national drugstore that is breaking it's back to serve this community's needs. I am proud of my coworkers and the family that is pulling together. I am broken in spirit and weary in body. I am very blessed to have a home all my family accounted for and yet my heart is breaking for those that are still in the fog of this storm.
The night of the storm my husband and I went out to volunteer with the city's rescue efforts, as ministers we can go places others can't go. And we were sent at what we called "ground zero", the triage unit across from the St John Regional Medical Center that was completely shaken. I have never seen anything like it before. Ever and never do I want to again. I am just reaching out to this network for prayers and support. I am asking you to help carry this burden with me. I have stood upon God's promises and I am holding on to Him with all my might. If you are near by please reach out to families and give from your hearts. Thank you in advance for your prayers.

I am so sorry for whats happening and happened. When it hit st. louis a couple of weeks ago, even though we live a mile away from the airport, we escaped with little damage, especially since the tornado was in the airport. I am praying for all the families that have been affected by this tragedy.

May God bless you and others in Joplin. I live in St. Charles MO. We have had the sirens going off each time the weather has gotten bad - I live in an old house and the basement is out of the question. Tornadoes are very scarry. We were just missed last time when the tornadoes hit by the airport area. I have been emotional all day watching the devastation in Joplin, and also hearing about all the people taking care of each other. I am so sorry this has happened to all of you. My prayers are with you!

I'm in Ecuador, so I can't help physically, but I will be praying. May our all-sufficient Father give you strength and peace as you help deal with the aftermath of this disaster. May others see him in you. On behalf of the hurting, thank you for all you're doing.

Prayers for Joplin are on their way to the Father now. And thank you for being willing to minister to those in need.
  • My heart breaks for everyone affected. It seems devistating on the news but its probably even worse out there. Stay strong & positive. Despite how bad it is now, things will get better. <3

~*Big hugs*~ My thoughts are with you and everyone else who has such a long journey to recovery ahead!

There are great numbers of people pulling together all over the country to get useful supplies to the devastated area. My fellow MFPers, check with local churches and other organizations to see what you can do to help. Something as seemingly small as pulling a few of your extra blankets out of your closet and sending them Joplin's way, can be very helpful when we all do it. Also, please consider donating blood. The demand for Type O Neg. is especially high. You can find blood drives in your area by visiting the Red Cross website, you can also schedule your appointment there, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Praying that the LORD will be with you all this time and give you the strength that you need to carry on. I was in Joplin about 5 years ago, and it is hard to believe that so much has been wiped out! The devastation is unreal! Will continue to pray!

Proverbs 3: 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, 26 for the LORD will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.

God will see you through this. My prayers are with you and your community

I have no money to donate, nor do I have any medical skills of value. However, I do have able hands and a beating heart. I am trying to organize folks from here in Rolla to come down for the upcoming holiday weekend. I don't know if it will work, but I am trying. Regardless, my thoughts and prayers are with you and all the residents of Joplin in this time of tragedy. Bless you.

Prayers have been sent from here in St. Louis. I work for St. Johns in STL, and we have been doing everything we can for our sister hospital down there. You all are doing an amazing job with the support you're providing people down there. And with all of the storms that keep coming through, I pray for some relief for you all.

God bless you and the people there....

This was the scariest night of my life. I'll never forget what it sounded like rolling through. Like a freight train. We, too, were out on Sunday night and all the through day Monday searching for survivors. I don't think I've ever been so wet/tired/distraught in all my life. Thanks for being out there, too.

We were at my mother-in-law's house when the storm hit and the air pressure inside the house was crazy, the windows shattering everywhere, doors shaking violently in their frames. I'm surprised the roof stayed on. Anyway, after a few hours we found out from a neighbor (whom I found up on Main St.) that our house out by the golf course was still standing... saved by three blocks!

So so lucky, we all are, to still have homes. I grieve for the people who wander around here homeless now, and for those who lost loved ones.

Stay strong, our community will get through this, it will just take some time.
