suggestions to boot caffeine?

I didn't think that I really had a caffeine addiction but today, after about three days of having minimal caffeine (meaning half a can of Diet Coke), I was having headaches along with feeling exhausted, nauseous, and like I generally couldn't concentrate on anything. Having some diet soda in the evening made the gross feelings go away, but I want to get rid of my addiction to caffeine.

Have any of you cut caffeine from your diets completely? What helped most to cut it out? Do you have anything you recommend *not* doing? Any recommendations you have would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm currently working off of caffeine. I tried to go straight cold turkey...and I definitely don't recommend that. I started by reducing my normal soda intake from several buckets a day to 1-2. The next step I'm working on now is no soda/caffeine on monday, wed., friday. So far so good. Maybe something like this would help you as well.

I went cold turkey. I was drinking three cups of coffee and a couple of sodas a day. Day One was very bad but it quickly got better. Drink lots of water it will help clean out your system. Be prepared for headaches so if you do decide to cold turkey do it when you have a day off or on the weekend.

Haven't had caffeine in months and I feel much much better more energy than when I was drinking it.

    Good Luck.

Well, I would say it would be like any other withdrawl, you will need to just get the caffeine completely out of your system to start feeling better. When I lost weight over 5 years ago, I went though some nasty withdrawls from caffeine, biggest was the headaches. I did give myself a half Mt Dew for the first few days then completely cut it out. After time all the other symptoms subsided. Keep yourself hydrated!!!

I realized alot of my issue was mental, like I needed to have a pop. So, I tried Excedrin or Crystal Light Energy. They contain caffeine, but it was alot easier to stop using those after a short period of time than trying to kick pop that I had been enjoying for years. Start to cut your caffeine intake even more than half a Diet Coke a day, maybe every other day and hopefully after a couple days the "need" for caffeine will go away.

Good luck and hope you start to feel better.

I went cold turkey a few years ago. Some advil for a few days for the headaches and some small glasses of juice for quick pickups until you adjust.
