Apparently, it's one year old, so they're giving it away for free.

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/nike-gps/id387771637?mt=8 is the UK store link. Presumably it's free in other countries too. Just search for "Nike+ GPS"

Super great tool! It's 5 years old today! I've been using it for 3 years and most of the weight I've lost was with running. Go download the app.

Yea, it's brilliant. I don't get to run much, but I use it for tracking all my fitness walking. I know there other runner tracking apps, but this is the one that I've stuck with.

Oh and @Mando55, yes it's 5 years, not 1. Doh!

I have it on my phone but couldn't figure it out! (this will sound really dumb, but) do I need to have Nikes or something to activate it or can it just run, regardless of what gear we have?

@liswar, this app doesn't use an widget in your shoe or a heart sensor or anything, it just uses the GPS / location sensors in your iPhone to record where you are, how fast you are moving and how many calories you burn.

It remembers all your runs, shows them to you on a map with different colours for pace.

I can't remember, but I think you may need to register with Nike+ website as this is where it uploads all your run information.

Once you've told it about yourself (weight, etc) you just push a button to start a run, then off you go. At the end, you can see how far, what pace, how many calories, where on the map, and it will tell you if you are faster than before, or ran for longer, or whatever.

    It's great.

There are other apps, like Runkeeper that do a similar thing, but I posted this today because it's free :-)
