I recently began an awesome job that I am walking 3 miles while at work and standing/moving/kneeling all the time.but my problem is late night snacking. I have always been a late night carbs person.( yes I know carbs are bad especially at night) I just crave carbs and i'm really trying hard to not eat at night, but since i got this job and work from 3-11pm I get home by 11:45pm and by the time I'm hungry. I eat breakfast and lunch at home and pack a yummy salad for dinner at work and may have a small snack while at work, i also drink plenty of water. but i'm always hungry once i get home.
So I'm just wondering if anyone is in the same situation as I am and if there are late night healthy snacks that wont hurt eating them around 1am!

I don't believe in the whole "don't eat at night" thing - a calorie at 10am is the same calorie at 1am to me. I also work evenings - I find something with a bit of protein really does the trick when I get home - a glass of milk and an apple; a bowl of oatmeal with almonds and milk, a peanut butter sandwich. I just make room in my day for it (and I make my day from the time I get up until I go to bed - doesn't matter if it crosses over the 'date' you know)0

I work 6PM to 6AM and I usually snack on 100 calorie bags of popcorn since they take awhile to eat, I feel like I'm eating more calories than I am. Also, I chew a lot of gum, just to keep my mouth busy.
Maybe try eating your dinner later so you aren't hungry when you get home.0 -
Eat a real meal, not junk food or snacky food when you get home, however late it is.0

I work overnights, and everything is closed so I don't have a choice about not snacking.
Maybe you should pack a more substantial meal to eat at work instead of a salad. It might prevent you from being as hungry when you get home.0 -
I work second shift (usually 2-11pm). I eat breakfast at home (and try and make sure it is a larger meal). Then I make sure I eat on my first break, eat enough on my lunch, and eat something on my second break too. Since I'm such a night owl, I tend to workout at night, so I often go to the gym after work. But, even when I don't I make sure I eat before I go to bed. I really don't think there's much truth to the "eat before bed" theory. I wouldn't eat a huge meal and then go to bed, but I don't think it's a horrible thing to eat and then sleep.0

I work 4 p.m. to midnight. I eat "brunch" around 11a.m., dinner at work around 5:30 p.m., and my late night snack (planned in advance) when I get home around 12:30 a.m. I plan the day's meals before I leave for work, adjust for exercise calories, and pretty much stick with what I've planned. It works for me.0

I don't think your tummy has a clock, so a 1 am calorie is the same as a 1 pm calorie.
That said, eating a full meal shortly before going to slep can interrupt your peaceful slumber, because your body doesn't rest as well with a full tummy. If you try to finish your eating about 2 hours before you want to sleep, you can avoid this.0
