I have been doing MFP since January and have lost I think a fair chunck of weight but lately I just can't motivate myself to excercise. In March & April had Foot Tenditis and could not exercise at all now that dr has given me the ok to work out I find I just can't face doing it. I have all the intention of doing it, tell myself right finish work, pick girls up from school get home and then get the DVD out. But once I am home I just can't face it.

To get back into doing some exercise after injuring my foot, three days a week I walk to the school and pick up the girls and we walk back together. Which for me is a round trip of 3.6 miles which I am fine doing it, it's just getting back into doing the excercise DVDs. Has anyone else faced this problem?

Oh, how I can relate! Everything else seems to be more important. I find the hardest thing about this journey is the exercising part. I have every excuse in the book and then some even when I know I feel better after I exercise! I have some friends at work who help to motivate me and that works best for me. Find someone who can do that for you and you'll get back in action.

Try to find something new to do. If you have on-demand, there might be some workouts on there you can follow. I did the workout DVD's for a while, then stopped working out so my shoulder could heal. Still haven't been back to the DVD's, but I've been running and lifting weights a lot more instead.

Thanks, it's nice to know that others feel the same.

I know how you feel. i get like that often as I go home to scotland quite alot (I live in england at the moment) and when i come back after the weekend I just feel like I can't get back into it and you tell yourself you've come so far but you just can't be bothered doing anymore and wish you could just go and buy a box of chocolates and stuff your face. i'm there right now but there's no point in stopping now! I'm more than halfway and you just need to tell yourself to keep going! Think of your goal, why you are doing it and where you will be when it's done. keep going! x

I don't know if this is possible for you to do but you could try and set off early to pick your daughters up from school.... plan another route which makes your walk to school much longer say just by 10 minutes to start with and then you will be burning some extra calories this way and then you could up it a bit more until you want to move onto something else.

Is there anything you could do with your girls like dancing, I don't know if you have a games console or something? Or maybe join a local class and do something with other people, it might help to just do something different than your dvd's to begin.

I hope you find something that will work for you again. :)

I say switch it up. A DVD at home inst as exciting when you've done it a 100 times. Get out with the kids and do something active to switch up the dreaded routine. We are members of the YMCA and the kids ask to go to the gym everyday. They love it, we lvoe it. The kids are just as much my motivators as anyone else in my life. The excitement in their faces as they ask and we tell them "yes!".And as far as being important than other things, i tell ya this....it should be high on the priority list. When you feel better after working out everyone including your kids, family, n friends will feel happy around you. Find a way to just get yourself there and everything will fall as it should. It's just my little bit of advice :flowerforyou:

I agree, it is hard to find the time and motivation sometimes. BUT . . . I keep telling myself that continuing on, will eventually give me the life I truly want. I want to be fit and healthy, and able to do more active activities with my kids. I don't want to sit on the sidelines watching them play soccer and softball. I want to play with them and not be an embarrassment to them.

You have come so far! Maybe join a challenge or find a workout buddy. Someone who can keep you in check.

This one may sound a little wacky, but when I am on the treadmill, I get motivated when my iPod plays the song Lose Yourself by Eminem. I am not really a rap music fan, but for some reason, the lyrics speak to me. Failure is not an option. I tell myself that every day.

    Good luck!

Friend me, if you would like to give and receive support.

    MIchelle
