I am a mad Zumba fan. Love it! But I have a wii gathering dust as I find the wii fit games soooo dull.
How does Zumba wii compare to a real Zumba class? Does anyone do both???

I haven't taken classes but I have the zumba for the wii and have only watched it. It is a vigourous work out and what I like is that it takes you through all the dances step by step so you can learn them first before turning up the work out. The music is fantastic, I just have to get off my chair and do it. There is a belt you wear to hold the controller which follows your moves and lets you know how you are doing, this is great for those who are too shy to go to a class.0

I like Zumba for the Wii as you can track your progress and improve your score each time you do it. It gives me motivation to keep with it.0

I have the Zumba for Wii (part of the reason I bugged hubby to get a Wii) and love it. I used to go to the local class all the time but stopped cause life got in the way. I am going to start going to class again and do the Wii in between (mon, wed, fri, sat - Wii and tues & thr - class). I have finally figured out how to readjust my calorie monitor so I can see how the two compare. As far as work out I am dripping sweat from both!!0

I've done both! wii is just like the class really, except no other people around lol: I probably prefer the class, but only because of the interaction with others!, both is equally good, if you give your all in the workout should gets the same goal/result (calories burn and fat burn).0

I was wondering about the belt you have to wear. Is it meant to go around bigger hips? I had a stupid fitness wii game that made you wear a band around your thigh. Lo and behold, my thigh's too fat. Anyone know? I'd love to get this game, the band's the only thing holding me back!0

I have done both and I enjoy both! the class gives you that social interaction to well known music but I'd say I work harder on the wii game because I am competing with my previous scores! The wii games doesn't have chart music but excellent latin tunes, which I actually prefer.
But it's really up to you which one you prefer
I use the wii band around the hips and it is pretty generous - if it can fit my gigantic hips! But you can still play without the band - by just holding the controller
