Hi guys!
I found this app on my phone first looking for a calorie counter, but I realized after playing around with it, it offered a lot more than just counting calories. I did join MFP awhile ago, but never had much of a chance to check out the website online. I'm interested in learning what kinds of exercises and eating habits work well in losing weight, but also controlling hunger. I've always had a hard time motivating myself to go run or do some extra cardio everyday, but I do try and make an effort to workout as often as I can. If anyone wants to add me, or has some tips to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. I know the basics of needing to eat healthier and work out more, but getting some extra info would be great! Thanks all!

    Hello Jocelyn,

I joined MFP ages ago and then just fell into old habits and stopped focusing on me. I managed to lose 18lbs in 2009 and have put it all back (and some more).

So here i am again. I seem to be OK with food - until i get really upset and then head for the bread. Exercise is difficult especially as there isn't anyone to join me in such efforts. I have started using the Kettleworx DVDs and am exercising at home. It's only 30 minutes each session and feels manageable.

Would love to have you as my getting healthy buddy. What do you think?

    Best

This site is great to help you know how many calories you should shoot for a day. I also found this site called www.dietician.com and they have this thing called help which stands for "healthy eating plan for life". Anyway, it took the 1200 calories I'm shooting for and helped me distribute them in a way where I'm not hungry-like healthy fats at every meal, etc. Anyway I've been doing it for almost a week now and I've lost 2 pounds. I still use this site as my primary site-I just printed my "eating plan" from the other because I wasn't planning my calories out very well on my own and I was getting hungry. The healthy fats (avocado, nuts) have REALLY helped. I have also noticed that drinking at least 6 glasses of water a day really keeps you from getting hungry. Sorta hard at first but you get used to it quick. Good luck! I think you will really like MFP.

This may be hard to swallow, but one of the habits that I had to break was falling into my own excuses about exercising. It really is difficult to get motivated, but if your end goal is to not only lose weight, but be fit...exercise is going to need to be incorporated into your lifestyle. You have to start enjoying it. When I got started, I had to throw myself into it and ignore the battle in my brain that just wanted to sit on the couch and relax after a long day of work. Now...I look forward to getting off work so I can go work out and boost my energy. It's an attitude shift. Good luck!

Welcome to MFP! I too found this website the same way... I started off by walking 1 hour each day, then started doing videos which helped me a lot. And they are very convenient too, as I can do it at home any time I have time. Jillians' 30 day shred is very good, as it is just 20min but gives great results. Just try everything n see what works for you :)

Add me as a friend if you like :)
