BMR Calculator Including Activity Level

Just came across a site that, when calculating BMR, takes your activity level into account! I have been looking for ways to figure out my BMR now that I am more active and have more muscle... seeing as how I am now hungry all the time, my metabolism has probably sped up! I also know that more muscle= more calories burned= need more calories to sit on your butt= eat more which then = faster metabolism (provided you are eating the right things and spaced throughout the day!)
So this site:http://www.muscleandstrength.com/tools/bmr-and-daily-calorie-calculator.html takes your activity level into account, for those who are interested. I can't say it's correct, but it gives me a similar reading to MFP with about an extra 100 calories (which makes sense since MFP doesnt take into account activity level, just age, height, weight when calculating).

Oh WOW! That one gives me a BMR of 1750! The MFP BMR tool tells me it is 1343. That's a HUGE difference.0

oh my freaking gosh this is so cool! i think it's flawed: i'm 5'7 and it says i need 2420 cals a day! i'm not THAT active! :P0

BMR should not include daily activity since it is the measure of how many calories you burn to simply stay alive. If you did nothing all day you would burn your BMR just to stay alive. MFP, if you go to MY HOME and click Goals. On the page that comes up you will see two columns and near the top of the second column you will see a number for Calories From Normal Daily Activity. That is the number of calories you burn including your normal daily activity.0

Going through it there is only 10 calorie difference between what it shows and MFP.0

I understand what you're saying but I don't think it is taking your daily activities into account, it is taking into account the fact that somebody who is more active on a regular basis (through exercise) is probably leaner, has more muscle etc. It IS a BMR and IS calculating how many calories you need to stay alive, but somebody who has high percentage of body fat is not going to burn as many calories sitting on their butt as somebody who is the same height and weight but has more muscle, is leaner. That's a pretty important thing to take into consideration. I weigh less now than I did last year, but my fat percentage has decreased and my muscle mass and therefore metabolism have increased.0 -

haha! Mine said something like that too at first but that was because I put my height in cm... when I put it in as 5'6 it gave me 1750 which is 100 higher than MFP and sounds about right to me!0
