Hi Everyone --
I am new to MFP and I have a question. We are switching over to summer weather here and today is especially hot and humid.....so you know what that means....My rings are TIGHT!!!
Does anyone have any ideas or things that have worked for them that help with water retention in the summer months? I do not want to be adding pounds or not seeing my scale move because I am retaining water....that will just make me want to go eat a BIG FAT COOKIE!!!!
Do I drink a ton of water in hopes to pee it all out????

Hi Ladies, A natural diuretic is asparagus.....steam some and enjoy. Or you can try hot water and lemon, which also works as a natural diuretic. Good luck!0

I do know that sodium intake causes water retention... Possibly try cutting back on your sodium during the summer months and up your water? I've always been told that the only way to take care of water retention is to drink a lot of water and watch sodium levels. Does that help at all?0

Water. Water. Water.
Now, I will tell you this.. I retain water horribly during the summer months. I was just complaining the other day that my fingers looked like sausages. Some of us are just more prone to it than others. Try and watch your sodium and drink a bunch of water. It may not completely prevent it, but it WILL help!0 -
YES tons and tons of water will flush you out. Also Diet Cranberry juice. make sure it is 100% juice, like ocean spray.
Drink at least 64 oz of water per day0 -
Recently I read that making sure I was properly hydrated would actually help swelling, like you're thinking... so I tried it.
It works for me!
I detirmine how much I should be drinking with this equation that I've seen in a few places here:
(body weight) divided by (2) equals (how many ounces of water you should drink a day)0 -
I definately drink 64 ounces of water a day.....I'm pretty good about that. How much sodium would you say is a lot? I don't think what I am eating is high in sodium....I guess I will just keep on drinking!0
