Hi! I'm new here.(this is my first post!) I filled in my information to the calorie counter and it told me I should be eating 1200 calories per day. Does this seem much too low, or am I just eating the wrong foods?

For the first few days I entered my current eating habits into the calorie counter to get an idea of where to begin. I have now started swaping my bad food habits for good ones and the amount of food you can actually eat in one day only using 1200 calories is a lot and if you make the right choices you shouldn't be hungry.0

Definitely depends on the foods you're eating. I'm at 1280, focusing on veggies and fruits, and some days I have to work to make it to that because I'm not actually very hungry but I know it's no good to end a day at 800 calories.0

I've often wondered if my calories were low too...but I don't have a lot to lose & I have a desk job. I'm also at 1200 calories... I've decided to try it out for a bit (although I push my limits everyday) to see where it puts me. I'm almost a week in, and I do find that I'm hungry a lot. Don't forget to add your exercise, which will increase your calorie limits too. Sometimes I work out just to eat more0

I'm at 1200 as well, and like Pixie said its not too difficult if you focus on eating healthy, nourishing foods. If your already at a low weight then your calorie goal is going to be fairly strict, but its definitely do-able. Feel free to add me and good luck to you!0

I'm a very picky eater and there's not many foods I like... the ones I like are packed with bad calories!0

rather than being uberstrict with the target MFP set for me I did the math to find out the calories needed to maintain my goal weight and my current weight and I gave myself a range with 1200 as my rock bottom, lose 1 lb/wk as my target and maintain my goal weight as the top of my range. As long as I keep within in this range I'll lose. I tend to naturally zig zag my calories 3-4 at very close to my target and then a higher calorie day closer to the top of my range.
As long as I stayed under maintain my current weight calories I won't gain. So no need to throw in the towel, just pick-up where I left off.0
