Hi all, I started my weight loss at the end of Feb and did two months of diet chef on 1200 cals a day with no exercise. I've come off the diet chef for financial reasons but have stuck at the 1200 cals a day. I'm now exercising also as I thought that would help my fitness levels and boost my weight loss. I have been eating back most of the exercise cals. I'm burning approx. 250/300 cals in exercise a day but things don't seem to be moving. Am I doing something wrong??? Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks.

i wonder if your wearing a HRM? if not maybe your over estimating your calorie burn?

YOu have to eat back your calories, plain and simple, no excuse. You bur 300, you eat 300 more. Does mfp tell you to eat 1200 or did you manually change it yourself?

MFP set the 1200. I've had a week with it at 1350 thinking it wasn't set high enough but i've put weight on.

No i'm not wearing a hrm. From most posts on here though it seems MFP does over estimate the exercise cals a little, hence the reason i've not been eating all of them back.

Thanks for this. Had a read and it seems my cals are where they should be. Like you say, these things take time. Maybe i'm just trying to rush it. 1lb a week isn't that bad and I guess it's going the right direction! It's the weeks where it stays the same that I get a bit stalled with. Thanks.

I'd suggest opening your food diary so that we can see what you are eating. Also, make sure you drink tons of water!

I've just checked via the Diet Chef plan that I was originally doing and, with my current weight, it's telling me I should be at 1930 calories a day which sounds very high to me!! With that information i've come back to MFP and updated my goals. I now have a daily cals allowance of 1350 + my exercise calories (approx. 300). Would you update this manually so that i'm getting the 1930 as per Diet Chef or leave at 1350 + exercise & see how it goes?? 1930 sounds too many - isn't the average daily allowance for women 2000 but at a guess this is just for women....not women who are trying to lose weight??

    what are your numbers?

I.E. height, weight, activity level, waist to hip ratio, BF% if you know it, any medical conditions, age, exercise routine (types and schedule), average exercise calories burned. I can get you a pretty accurate guess on your maintenance calories (TDEE) with this information, it's not as good as an indirect calorimetry test, but it should be within a 100 calorie bubble of accurate.
