I am getting muscle definition in my biceps but I don't feel like my triceps have tightened up any. I use 3 pound hand weights about once or twice a week and do push ups and triceps dips almost every day..please tell me that I won't have flabby yucky arms when I lose all my weight! haha

they may tighten up a bit as you build muscle. but the only way to make them smaller is by reducing bodyfat.

I'd be interested to know the answer to this too. I have exactly the same struggle and although I am losing weight and toning in some places, my ''bingo wings'' (that's what we call flabby arms in the UK) are just as bad as they have always been. In fact, I sometimes ask myself, are they getting worse ;0(

Exactly. You need to lose bodyfat and take up the space where fat used to reside with muscle, do remember though fat takes up 1.7 times more room then muscle, on average.

Women and arm flab are like PB&J!

Look up chaturanga pushups. I do them in yoga allllllllll the time and trust me, you'll feel them! They've helped immensely with tightening up arm flab. You have to do them correctly, contract your ab muscles, pull your arms tight into your body and lower yourself SLOWLY to the ground. Anyway, GOOD LUCK.

Start lifting heavier weights with fewer reps and watch your arms tone up! I started on 5's and have been going up 2.5 lbs about every week. I'm now up to using mostly 15's and 17.5's. I'm hoping to get to 20's soon!

Lifting heavy isn't going to make you huge - your body as a woman physically can't do it.

Try bodybuilding.com for some great arm exercises!

Unfortunately "toning" is not actually a tangible thing. You either build muscle , maintain or lose it. The only way to feel as if they are tighter is to lose the majority of the fat covering them. Since the tricep muscle comprises 2/3 of the mass of your arm, until alot of the fat surrounding it is lost it will feel a little mushy. Biceps are always the first to seemingly shed the fat for some reason.

stay diligent and keep doing the exercises you mentioned. I would however go a bit heavier with the weights...your muscles will not respond much if at all to such light dumbells. Try using a weight that it becomes very difficult for you to complete 10-12 full reps....the difference you feel will be amazing.

    Good luck!

Just try your best to lose fat in general. Fat burns where it chooses. You can't control it. You can't focus train. Everybody is different to some extent. So keep losing weight and gain muscle if possible. Eventually the fat will drop off of your arms.

I would do as heavy as you can 8-10 times.

Yes, they'll get smaller. Take photos. It's going to be subtle as it happens, and you won't notice it.

I didn't realize my arms got much tighter until I saw recent photos. And I only use 5# weights. I do the EA Sports Active 2: 9 Week Challenge 4 times a week. And I run a 10 k training program 4 times a week, going between 3 - 6 miles each time.

From last June until this past weekend, I probably only lost about 15-18 pounds or so. I gained more after the summer, so my only before photos were when I was fully clothed, so you can't see the difference as much. But these photos really show the changes in my arms. And how much I LOOOOVE theme parties.

I do 12 lbs weights right now for my triceps. Trying doing 5 lb weights. If you can do those easily, go up a couple of lbs. When you get to a weight that is a challange for you, do that until you can do like 3 sets of 12 or 15 reps. Then move up the weight again. That's what I do anyway and I can see and feel a difference!

I've only tried Yoga twice and that move is INTENSE. I can do a "regular" push up, but that is a whole other level! Wow. Haha.
