Do you trust your HRM?

I have a Polar HRM and really like wearing it. I have a high resting HR and a very high workout HR. Today at bootcamp I maxed HR at 182. I have always had a higher resting HR (it is maybe 90-100) since I was young although a doc has never cited it as a concern. I am 167 lbs and 5'10" so I need to lose weight but I am not technically terribly overweight.
Questions:
- would you trust the calories burned from the HRM? It shoes very high caloric burn.
- if you would NOT trust it, how would you go about calculating it?
Thanks!

I have a polar FT7 and believe it is the most accurate measurements I've found. It measures much lower than MFP exercises and treadmill at gym. I also subtract my BMR (about 100/hr) from the HRM reading.0
