Carrying your calories over

Hey all - I was wondering how you work this for your own individual self. I used to do weight watchers so still go by some of their rules like not counting vegetables that have trace amounts of calories. I was wondering if anyone carries over their fitness calories or calories you do not eat to a different day of the week or as in a tally of extra weekly calories? Thoughts?

I don't carry over. Each day is a new day and I try to make it my best. If I mess up and go over - well that's just going to happen some times - it just can't happen ALL the time. No sense beating myself up, just move on. Tomorrow is a new day. Also, I count my vegetable calories, even if it is only 40-80 calories a day... they still count!!!! (for me anyway). I'm all about measuring units of energy consumed and burned. :)

I kind of do. For instance, yesterday I accidentally had a bunch of extra calories (about 700!), so I didn't worry about what I ordered when I went out to lunch with my co-workers today. I'll enter it, but not worry about going over.

    I also wondered about this.

For me though I think I would over eat big time on the days where I place the additional calories.

I'm allowed 1,560 calories a day. I try not to go over 1,320 if all possible and I absolutely carry my calories over to the next day. No way.
I exercise an hour to an hour and a half, then that carries over more, but I don't really use those either. It just makes me feel good that I exercise and I'm able to be burning calories throughout the day.
    I hope this helps.

Weight watchers is not calorie counting, be careful. I have done both. While fruits and vegetables are low calorie, they are zero points because WW assumes and builds into their calculation that you will be eating an average amount of them.

MFP does not assume you are eating ANY fruits and vegetables and you should track everything.

Just my opinion. Obviously a cucumber at 45 calories (whole thing) wouldn't matter much. But one banana has over a 100.

NEVER. For me personally- every day is a new day. I may go over some days and under others (Im a zig zager)
, but never would I intentionally eat more today just becasue I ate less yesterday. I have nothing good to say about Weight Watchers, so like my mamma taught me, I will say nothing!

    Good luck to you! :o)

Look up zig-zagging. This is alternating higher & lower calorie days (on purpose). This works for a lot of people. Just a preference for some, and not to others.

I typically use this if I have some event planned, a dinner party or whatever. I can splurge a little one day, but I have to make up for it going forward.

If you are allowed 8400 NET calories for the week (7 x 1200) and you consume 8400 net calories Sun thru Sat - then you are not cheating. It's just math.

Ditto all of the above posts! Each day is new and you should (in my opinion) try to eat up your calories and not go over. But like others, there will be days you go over and some you might be way under. I just don't try to "beat the system" by figuring out when I can eat more because I ate less yesterday. I tried WW and never had long term success, but MFP I've stuck with longer (and i've only been here a bout 2 months) and had more success. As an added bonus the people on here seem way less catty (I haven't met any yet!) and way more supportive than WW online :)

I also count all my calories - even my veggie and fruit ones. It's helping me learn what snacks and meal choices are healthier, low calorie ones. :)

I see it as each days is a new day. If i did carry over i know I would set myself up for fail. I would eat a high calorie meal and then tell myself the next day i will eat less but i know i wouldnt be able too. this is what i used to do while I was gaining my weight.

I don't carry calories over and I always include my fruits and veggies. Even if it's only half a piece of lettuce on my sandwich I count it.

I try to stay at or under my calorie goal every day, but as long as I stay at or under my weekly goal, then I don't mind if I happen to go over on a day or two. The weekly is what matters most I think. Especially if you are trying to hit your weekly weight loss goal.

I count everything and don't carry over calories. I do "allow" myself some ice cream once a week, usually from DQ, and on that day I tend to go over my calories, and then the next day I might eat a little less. I just try not to go too much over and not more than once a week. I put in fruits and veggies, even 10 calories worth of blackberries, but I mainly do that to make sure I'm eating enough fruits and veggies daily.
