Hi. Obviously I'm new here. My name is Amy Lee and I live in Northern California. I am a stay at home mom to 3 kids (13 1/2, 10 1/2 and 8.) I have been married for 11 years, with him for 13. I am 5 feet tall and was 115 pounds when I met him in 1998. I had lost all but 7 pounds of my son's pregnancy weight. I was cute..HAHA. Anyway, 2 more kids and moving 10 times and becoming a stay at home mom later...Here I am 100+ pounds overweight. I've been very unhappy with myself for a long time, but kept making excuses and putting it off. I have no one to blame, but myself. I do suffer from Fibromyalgia and depression which doesn't help things. I am also 3000 miles from my family which also doesn't help. Finally last week my doctor grilled into me about losing weight so I said let's do this.
At the beginning of March my husband, who is 6' 3" and was 348 pounds, went to the doctor and asked for some help/support to lose weight. The doctor gave him Phentermine and sent him to a nutritionist. He has since lost about 50 pounds! SO, I asked my doctor if I could try Phentermine and she said yes. I started it on Sunday and so far I think it helps a little, but not dramatically like it did for my husband. He is watching calories/carbs, I am watching my calories. My start weight is 233. Today I was 229. My goal is to lose 100 pounds, but I'm doing this 10 pounds at a time. If I look at it and say "I need to lose 100 pounds" I get overwhelmed and my anxiety level goes up and then I ultimately give up...So 10 pounds at a time is good, I think.
I don't think I really have any questions right now. I just hope to meet some friends and get support and be supportive

Great Job already! yes, 10lb goals are good. Be proud of yourself for taking control of you. i found this to be a real help. Keeping track of my food diary, i didnt feel like i was on any diet. I eat what i like, but now in moderation, where as before, it would eat it all. Its my new life style now and i love it.0

That's exactly how I feel. The food diary has been a huge help. It's so important to weigh/measure my food now. Before I would just eat...and eat...and eat. I ate out of boredom too which is BAD. I am stay at home mom and all 3 of my kids are in school all day. I have a few friends, but I'm not overly social. And with the Fibromyalgia I am limited to how much I can do at once and each day. I'm still trying to adjust to sticking to my calories, which is only 1200, but my husband says it will get easier...It's only day 4 so I hope so! LOL0
