Bad skin

I'm curious to see if anyone has noticed a change in their skin condition that corresponds with a change in their eating habits. I have had bad skin since I was a teenager :blushing: , but it's stuck around for over a decade and I'm tired of it. There are a lot of myths surrounding diet, exercise, and clear skin. I'd love to know if anyone has tried something that worked! Thanks mucho.

Drinking absolutely nothing with water has improved my skin! This is my regimen: washing my face with soap free products SOFTLY not rubbing it in too harshly or fast, using astringent for sensitive skin with a clean cotton ball gently, and using oil free moisturizers afterwards. When I have acne, I use 10% benzyl peroxide to get rid of them and it works better than anything I have ever used and you can buy it over the counter. BUT only drinking water and eating wholesome fruits and vegetables seemed to keep my acne at bay and helped my skin shine and improved its overall texture.0

I would have thought that my skin would've cleared up a lot with my eating habits, but it was the reverse actually. I use to have pretty clear skin. Now I look like a pre-teen! I attribute it to all the sweating from exercise. I've been trying to wash my face immediately after a run or workout, to see if that helps.0

Breakouts are generally caused by bacteria. Make sure you are using a good cleanser - the only one I use is Serious Skin Care's Glycolic available at HSN. It's a bit expensive but soooooooo worth it. As you drink more and more water you will notice an increase in hydration and your skin will most likely become smoother and softer.0

I wish, my face is the same as before! And all I drink now is water, and I eat healthy 98% of the time! It's so annoying :P0

I think that the overall texture and "glow" of my skin has gotten so much better with my clean diet, but I also think that with how much I sweat during workouts makes me breakout more often than I did before I worked out all the time. overweight with clear skin, or in shape and break outs?? such a tough decision haha0

Ok so you know the old wives tale that everyone says is not true.... you know the one about chocolate being bad for your skin.... Well it's partly true. It's sugar. Sugar can be the culprit for many reasons. #1: sugar actually has an affect on one's hormones. #2 sugar increases inflammation, and promotes the growth of bacteria. Now if your diet is clean (see below) and your still getting heavy break outs (like cystic acne which can be hereditary) you will need a really good skin care regimen. Trust me. I know first hand about not wanting to put sunscreen on or using a moisturizer because of fear of breakouts, but these things are very important for over all healthy skin. There are two really good product lines I would recommend. #1 Murad for acne.

The whole line is great! I use this daily and rarely get breakouts since using it. #2 Dr. Pericone

I tried the line after many people who had cystic acne recommended it, but It didn't work for me. Still, the amount of people that love it makes it worth a try. The thing to remember when trying new products is to make the transition gradual and allow your skin aprx 2 months before deciding if it works or not. DIET: Water consumption is very important. Always drink your water! In addition, getting a variety of veggies every day with a focus on eating bell peppers, onions, broccoli, spinach (things rich in Vit A) berries, and plums. I hope this helps some. I know how aweful it is to deal with acne. :flowerforyou:0 -
It seems everyone has different acne triggers. About 2 years ago I realized mine was dairy products. I love dairy I've switched to most soy/almond/coconut products and it stays under control- unless I splurge. I can have a small amount, but not a daily glass. A small serving of cheese a couple times a week is about it before I start to break out. Doing some research we decided it was probably some hormones in the diary, which makes sense for me as I'm ultra sensitive to hormones anyway. Unfortunately hormone free dairy didn't help much.0
