find out "everyday like today" accurate

i'm sure we've all paid attention to those little numbers that pop up at the end of our food diaries that says says "if everyday were like today, you'll weigh XXX.X lbs in 5 wks". and i'm sure we've all wondered how accurate is that? can i possibly lose that weight in 5 wks? and my favorite thought is "oh hey! that'd be great!!" so my challenge to myself and anybody wanting to find out for themselves, is to do the same thing for 5 wks. 35 little days to see how accurate this little button is.
my plan.....
(-) eat the same amount of calories +/- 10.
(-) burn 500 calories/day.
my last weigh in was may 21st (137.6lbs). according to my food diary, eating 1,380 calories and burning 500 daily i will weigh 129.6 lbs in 5 wks (june 29). which is pretty convenient since i have already set a personal goal of 130 lbs on july 1st. if MFP is correct, i will reach my goal. =D
anybody willing to test this for themselves with me? i'll be reporting back daily with actual calories consumed and burned.

yes, it's worked for me. Back in end of Feb, I stepped on the scale, and I was at 142. I was eating the right amount of calories and burning enough so that it kept on telling me that if every day was like today I'd be at 134. I weighted myself in the beginning of April, and I was at 134. I didn't keep every single day to the T, but I was there like 4-6 days/week. I think that it's a great feature and I really like it.
good luck!0 -
Count me in! I always wondered if it was acurate!0

thats great motivation that you've done it! i've been looking on here, but most ppl seem like its impossible to eat around the same and burn around the same for 35 days. i love challenging myself. all the support of ppl on here helps so much! i'm excited for july 1st!0

I have always hit the 5 week weight projection, about 2 weeks earlier than it predicts.0

I occasionally write that future # on my calendar - 5 weeks out and they have been pretty accurate for me.0

It has not worked for my sister. Keep in mind that every body reacts differently.1

well now i really understand why ppl are so skeptical. life happens. since my own challenge to myself, life has gotten in the way many times. btwn "convenient" fast food and family taking up my gym time, my 35 days has not been a success. =(0

Bumping this thread. My predictions are never accurate at all according to mfp0

I don't follow it that accurately. It'd be interesting to see if it's right on the money but I don't go 100% with logging. It told me I'd weigh 157 by the end of this month and I'm currently at 153.5. It's off, in a good way, so I'll take it.
So many things could cause a fluctuation, I'd hate to rely on their estimation to guide me.0
