Hi Everyone ~
I turned 38 on Sunday and made a goal for myself ~ to lose 50 lbs before my next birthday.
I have been overweight most of my life. I am tired of looking in the mirror and seeing what I see. I am tired of going to my closet and not having anything to wear. Thing is, I am faced with some challenges that many people don't have to face. About 8 years ago I had some health problems that changed my life. I've been in a wheelchair ever since. I haven't had the use of my lower extremities since then. A couple of years later I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Since I can't walk for exercise, I rely on my Wii to exercise with some upper body applications. While I can get a fairly good workout with a couple of applications, it's hard to stay motivated when I live by myself and don't have anyone here to push me to work out every day.
As well, I have a couple of challenges when it comes to my eating habits. I am eating healthier than I used to. However, I have a tendency to skip meals. As well, I know I don't drink as much water as I should. Part of that is done on purpose right now. I currently require assistance when using the bathroom, so I purposely don't drink a lot because I don't want to have to call my family to come and help me more often than necessary. I also eat breakfast a little bit later than most people, however, for basically the same reason ~ because I have to wait until my family has been here to help me in the morning before I eat breakfast. Therefore, it's usually between 10:00 and 10:30 by the time I eat breakfast. I typically skip dinner, and then I don't prepare or eat supper until sometime between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. ~ after the cat has gone to bed and my family has been here to help me for the final time of the evening.
Besides skipping meals and eating at odd times, I also tend to make foods that are easy quick and easy to make. I love to cook, but my cat tends to get in the way when I try to prepare meals. As well, being in the wheelchair, there are certain things that I like to make that are just too difficult for me to make without help [for example, pasta].
I need some help! I really want to make this work.but I need some motivation to keep me on track.
Thanks!
