Can't we all just get along?

I understand many of us are here on different diets, with different plans, doing different workout routines to reach different goals. I have been on this site for about 13 days now and have been very happy to come on every day to track my foods, see what's new on the message boards, and what is going on in the MFP community.
I respect everyone's opinions on here, and I joined this site, and return every day because of the support and the inspiration I receive when I am here.
From here on out, I am going to try and be supportive no matter what. If I disagree with the way you are doing your diet, then I just won't do it that way myself. I will offer suggestions if I think I can help but I will not discourage your hard work or downplay your weight loss, however you did it. If you cheat one day, or skip the gym, I will offer my support and tell you, tomorrow is a new day, never look back. If you need someone to talk to, you can message me and I will respond as soon as I can. We all came here for support, so let's try and get along!

I agree that we shouldn't encourage someone that is doing something that may be dangerous or unhealthy for them. But she also said:I will offer suggestions if I think I can help but I will not discourage your hard work or downplay your weight loss...
Supporting someone in their efforts isn't always happy, warm fuzzy sentiments. Sometimes supporting someone is letting them know they may be doing something that could be harmful. But since we all have different bodies and we all have different goals, the only person that can ultimately make sure we're making the right decisions for ourselves is... ourselves. We educate the best we can, then execute our plan and work our butts off to meet goals that We set for Ourselves. I've seen some down talking on here that is definitely NOT in the spirit of SUPPORTing our peers that this site tries to promote, and I'm happy to see someone speaking her piece in a positive way.0 -

Solid gold! Sooo true. We are all in it for our personal goals.....You dont have to agree with me and follow my ritual of flexing a bottle of wine as a night cap every night! lets support each other though in our efforts!0 -

Yup-sounds good! Tired of people trying to shove things down everyone's throat and saying "their" way is the only way to go! Everyone is different and we are all doing our own journey. Who needs mean people being discouraging? Not me! If someone asks for advice I may tell them what I am doing that works for me - but by no means am I an expert or am I pretending to know what others need. I'm just me trying to do the best I can for me. I seriously couldn't agree more - can't we all just get along?!?0

Encouraging and supporting are two different things altogether. Supporting someone in their efforts to live a healthier life doesn't mean you agree or encourage the method by which they reach their goals.
As adults, we all have the right to achieve our goals as we see fit. In my eyes, it is really no different than a carnivore and vegetarian SUPPORTING each other's efforts. It is one thing to speak up against known problems (such as diagnosed eating disorders) and another to decide that someone isn't doing something the "right" way because they use a controversial tool.
Everyone doesn't know everything...but forums like this bring out the expert in everyone. Not if it means encouraging someone to do something that is dangerous.0 -
I AGREE!! :bigsmile:0
