Hey.
I was wondering if anyone was on any kind of a diet , lost weight and was able to keep it of, didn't gain everything back?
We know how the diets work, we know that its easy to loose weight while on diet, but its not easy to keep loosing or keep it of after we done.
But maybe someone did it, maybe someone changed the way he eat and succeeded?

Many years ago, I lost 20 pounds. I find keeping off the last 10 to be incredibly difficult. As soon as I stop paying attention to what I put in my mouth, the pounds start to creep back on. I have no issues with exercise, I've got that down! I don't find myself skipping the exercise. I find myself eating too much.0

The most important thing is to remember that you need to change your lifestyle, not go on a "diet"...once you eat totally normally again, you will probably regain. Stick with eating healthy!0

The key is to think of it all as a lifestyle change instead of a diet. I know I know, EVERYONE "says" that....but you have to believe/live thinking that way! Right now yes, my calorie deficit is to lose weight, but I'm thinking about more than just that. The choices I'm making within that "calorie budget" are GOOD choices, nutritious, healthy. I want to eat this way FOREVER! I'll just get to eat a bit more of these yummy/healthy foods when the deficit is no longer needed0

same here... I dont call it a diet cause diets are temporary, but its a lifestyle change. This is a lifetime journey for me and I refuse to go back to where I started0 -

I've been maintaining my weight pretty good. I still count my calories and choose healthier options. I don't want to get to a place where I start gaining my weight back. I feel that you have to change the way you look at things. I want to be healthy so I choose healthy things ex: eating good and exercising.0

I lost 80 after having my son. my weight fluctuated up and down 5lbs. lasted 3 or 4 years. Got depressed, stopped going out all the time, only out to eat and gained almost 30lbs back in a year and a half. I didnt limit myself before i was more active ate what i wanted and enjoyed life. it is possible to maintain the weight.0

I have not had the experience yet. I am hoping that by changing my thinking and lifestyle it will happen this time. So far so good! I know it will take constant work to do it, but my hope is that by the time I get there it will have become mostly habit.0

DIETS DO NOT Work. But if you change the way you eat and think about food it WORKS. A Diet is a short term way of eating to achieve a number on the scale and then once it is achieved, Go BACK to OLD Eating, drinking and exercise habits.
I have lost many hundreds of pounds over the last 30 years and regained. I have lost over 80 lbs in the last 1 and a half year and kept it off and STILL losing. I have changed how much I eat, food choices and to some degree how I cook My food. I use a South Beach TYPE Plan (LOW GLYCEMIC Carbs) Tweaked with certain things I don't want to eat for GOOD Health reasons. IT WORKS (My Goals and Plan are on My Profile.)0 -
Hi--A few days ago I wrote about my experience on the last year of maintaining my weight if you want to check it out here.....

Diets are only temporary. If you make it a "lifestyle change" meaning you'll in it for the long haul then you'll be able to keep the weight off.0

If you "diet" (eat and/or exercise differently for a period of time) and then go back to whatever you were doing before you "dieted" then it's logically to assume that you will return to your future self. I have eaten a fairly healthy diet for many years (whole grains, as little saturated fat as possible, plenty of veggies). When I first made this switch I kept the weight off for many years (7-8). If I stop exercising or slip back into unhealthy eating habits I gain it back.0

I agree that it has to be a lifestyle change. If you lose the weight and then go back to eating fast food every day, then you are going to gain it all back. I have found that the greatest thing that I can do to safeguard against those periods where I don't eat the best is to have a good muscle base since it requires more calories to sustain that fat. If you are working out, add a good strength training program to it and don't just do cardio. If you aren't working out, why not? Diet can only get you so far0

I'm interested in how far my weight will drop with my lifestyle change. My maintance calorie range without exercise is 2800 calories.
I eat about 1600-1900. The only way i will be able to exceed that is if i go back to eating like a pig and eating junk which isn't going to happen. I've got too much work invested in myself. I'm not on a diet.0 -
I lost 60lbs and kept it off for a year, then got pregnant and lost all the baby weight quickly and kept it off for another year, and then got pregnant again....18 months later I am just starting to work on getting rid of it for a final time.
It has to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. You have to find a balance that you can maintain long term and stick with it.0
