I just finished my last class of my Master's program for school and I graduate Saturday! I am planning on starting the Insanity DVD's Monday... For those of you who have tried these DVD's what did you think? Any advice?

congrad's on your master's! I just finished mine also. Whats it in? Insanity is INSANE but awesome! do it at your own pace and definitely not for beginners.

Congratulations for completing your program!! My main advice for the program is to just move at your own pace at first. Do not try to keep up with those machines in the videos! I loved the program (finished almost 2 weeks ago). I'm thinking about doing another round once I complete the program I'm doing now.

DO IT! It's tough but it's one of those things that gives you a sense of accomplishment after you do it You will be mad at Shawn T (the instructor) but sometimes he really makes you work harder! I can already tell a difference in my leg muscules and i'm only in week 3! :)

I just started it today and it is hard if your a beginner. But I kept at it. I'm 266 and have asthma and I did day one. so beginners CAN do it. and I plan to stick with it, so don't tell people beginners can't do it cause they can. I'm excited about it and you go girl, just do what u can and you'll do great.

My advice is if you haven't been working out prior to starting this, you should wait. If you have to go at 60% of the pace they do in the video then you aren't ready for it. That said you aren't going to be able to do every workout all the way through the first time, but if you have to stop every 2 minutes ot catch your breath you aren't getting the most out of the program. A good measuring stick is the warmup. IF you have to catrch your greath a couple times during that, hold off.

It is not a beginners workout!

Edit: yes anyone can put the dvd in, but to get the most out of the program you have to be able to at least attempt to keep up with the people on the screen. If you have to go at 30% then there really is no point in doing Insanity.

I want that so bad, but my husband said it is too expensive and that I will do it once and have wasted $120. I'll wait awhile and buy a used copy on ebay :(

Do it! But as stated above, do it at your own pace. Just an FYI, you do a lot of jumping so your joints take a beating. I got hurt doing it but I'd do it again. Oh and it worked! I didn't lose much weight but I did lose a few inches.

Thank you for all of the support, information, and links! I am somewhat in shape...not what I would like to be. I did not work out regularly with school but I wanted to try something to kick off my workout to begin my new life style free of school! Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your help!

PS. My degree is in Educational Counseling and PPS Credential (K-12 school counselor). Schools in CA are going through huge budget cuts so it will be a while before I find a job, but so happy to be finished!
