Calorie Goals

I used a website that calculated the calories I should eat to lose 1/2 lb per week and it said I should eat 1969 calories. That is what I used for about a month before I started this program. On here it says I should eat 1680. I never ate 1969 so I have lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks, but why is there such a difference. Here shows I burn about 1900 a day, but their site said 2219. How/why can there be such a big discrepancy? The site is caloriesperhour, but they do not have all this available so it really isn't competition. I will stick with this since the site has so much available and It is more of a challenge to stick within this range and it is much easier to log my food. I was just wondering if the estimates can be off that far. On here at 1680 I would lose 1/2 lb/wk, but on there 1 lb/wk.

I don't know about the other website, but I say trust this one. I've been on it for about 2-3 months and the calorie counts and projected weight loss is extremely accurate for me!
  • Those are just estimates based on different formulas. The actual number of calories you need to eat depends on your own personal body and activity level. The calorie recommendations here are a little low, so I suggest you use the higher of the two numbers when trying to figure out the number of calories you need to eat each week to reach your target goal. You can always adjust later depending on your particular body type.

I know on another site they calculate in your activity level before figuring out your calories. That could be the difference. This one it figures out your calories based on the natural metabolism, then if you exercise you can eat more and adds more calories.
