How often do you do abs??

When I was a swimmer, we'd do abs every day and I always kinda kept to that. Then I wanted to start building more muscle and learned that you should do abs 2-3 times a week but kill 'em when you do them. I'm always working 'core' in everything I do, but specifically for abs... how often do you guys and gals do them? I'd especially like to hear from some of the male muscle guys out there. Thanks.

I was doing moderate ab work 3x a week with my regular workout...but this week I'm switching it up to 6x a week, 3 'minimal' with my normal workout, and three flat gutt busters on tuesday, thursday, and saturday, interval style, along with stomach vacuums.
Sick of not having more visible abs...and even though my core feels strong, it weakens quickly.
This will go away =p.0 -
Depends on what you mean by "doing abs". If you mean targeted exercises for the rectus abdominus, my answer is "never". I think they are a waste of time.
If you mean incorporating core stabilization into workouts, the answer is "almost always".0 -
Before I was injured: I was training mma 3 times a week and strength training 3 times a week. One of those mma sessions included some core work with sledge hammer, ab wheel rollouts. In my strength training, I would occasionally do some ab wheel rollouts or dragon flags but because I focus on compound lifts the core is always being worked.
I especially know this now with injured groin as I can't lift a weight overhead without some serious pain.0 -
I do some sort of core workout pretty much every day Not always floor work, sometimes standing abs and sometimes pilates based abs. I feel like I need to do it every day :laugh:0
