When weighing spaghetti...

do you weigh it dry or cooked? The spaghetti I eat is 180 cal for 2oz, but is that dry or cooked? Please help with the confusion!

Dry ... cooked weight changes based on whether you like it al dente or softer. water weight doesn't count for pasta

Thank you Xaspar! I was going to have to ask this question very soon! My family tends to be very pasta oriented when we eat together, so I'm going to start making my own little portions of healthier sauce and very little cheese (hope to wean myself to completely no cheese, but let's start with the little bit of cheese, haha)!0

Weigh it dry before you cook it then after you cook it divide up however much it weighs by however many servings you added when you cooked it. Great question!0

Omg, what an awesome question! Never occurred to me either way. Assumed it was cooked...some rice mixes do say dry. As if you're gonna cook that serving separately? Weird. So if I'm weighing it cooked, does that mean I'm eating too much or too little for the serving?0

You can do whatever works better for you. The database has listings for both dry and cooked pasta, so look for the one that you find easiest.0
