Hi! I've been doing P90X for two months now, and I find now that I get really restless on Sundays when I don't have a workout to do. I've heard that barre workouts are really good, but I have never done one before, and I have no experience (except as a little kid!) with ballet. Does anyone do barre dvds? If so, which ones are good? I want to really break a sweat, and if it has some cardio involved, that would be great. Thanks!

I'm interested in barre dvd's too! Been thinking about trying some out through Netflix. Would love to hear what people have tried and recommend though.

You could try the NYCB workout. It isnt necessarily barre- but balletic movements as well. It is a wonderful workout.

It would probably be hard for someone without true ballet experience to actually sweat when doing just barre- because it takes a very long time to learn to isolate, and engage the muscles and movements to effectively work them. That is why ballet is taught in levels...as you progress the barre gets tougher. My daughter is a pre-pro dancer and she is dripping when done with barre, if she works it- but if she didn't isolate and engage- she wont sweat at all. A few years ago there were a few ballet barre DVDs that came out w/ a barre you could buy- they didnt last very long, because it truly takes training to make barre a worthwhile workout.

Try NYCB workout.,. I love it!
