I'm going to say yes, but you may not be very healthy. And sodium may make you lose weight less quickly. And you may be hungry if you rely on cookies and milkshakes to reach your goals.

But yes, you will lose weight if you just follow your calorie goals (assuming you correctly set up your goals, starting weight etc.)
  • yes..but if you eat nothing but junk you will prob end up failing at this diet thing..

yup, calories are calories. Now, that doesn't take into consideration a lot of different things: you'll feel more full if you eat more protein, fiber, etc. Sugars will make you hungrier, etc. But yes, you could eat your calories up at McDonalds and you'd still lose.

The quick answer is "yes". The rule to weight loss is to have a negative at the end of the math problem:
calories in - calories expended = your daily net result.
Theoretically if you eat 1200 calories of pizza every day, you will lose weight. Now, the big difference between healthy and unhealthy food is that you normally have more energy and feel better when you eat healthier. Honestly, if I ate 1500 calories of Taco Bell every day I would feel tired and I'd want to eat more food because it's made of fillers and preservatives. Does this make sense?

Yes, but you lose more eating better foods.
    (less sodium, processed foods etc).
I still eat some of what I used to, just in moderation and make healthier choices (fruit instead of fries, no coke)
    Good luck :)

Eating less calories than you burn will result in weight loss. However, if you eat 1500 calories of sugars and fat, you'll feel more hungry than if you eat 1500 calories of foods with lots of protein and fiber. If you're hungry, it'll be harder to succeed.

Start with baby steps. Try to cut out one sugary or high fat item at a time and replace it with a piece of fruit, some veggies, etc.
