    Hey,

Well, it has been touch and go. As of yesterday, she was still unconscious...but the day before had reacted to her baby daughter being brought in (moving her hands, etc). Yesterday her eyes fluttered when they were washing her hair. etc. Oh, also her EEG came back negative which means her brain is functioning normally...which is good!! We are just waiting for her to come back to us! (She's been in the coma about a week now)

Her parents flew down from the Boston area last week and her brother flew out from Alaska where he is stationed to be with her in Georgia. Someone created a facebook page and her brother comes on daily to give us updates.

I try to keep my mind off of it..but it gets hard sometimes. She is a dear friend of mine and probably one of the most unique people I have ever known. Her daughter went home yesterday. They had kept her a little longer due to the stressful delivery, etc. (Shellie went into cardiac arrest when the blood clot entered her heart while getting the epidural)..but she is a beautiful baby and Jimmy (shellies hubby) is doing what he can! Luckily his whole family is down there so there is plenty of support.

This is the facebook page if anyone is interested.

I appreciate the prayers and words of support!!!! :)

Thanx for the update. It sounds like things could be encouraging. Having brain function is a major factor in her recovery. As long as her brain is working i would hope and pray that the rest will follow. Again thanx for the update.

For those that are interested in my friends condition, her brother just posted the following update:

"Okay, I just got back from the hospital, Shellie's status hasn't changed much since yesterday, her condition is still critical. As Jamikka said her lungs and kidney's are still an issue, her body has gone thru alot of trauma and these things were expected from the doctors. Our family has a meeting tomorow with all of her specialists to get a more detailed breakdown of all the issues they are dealing with, along with that we will get a gameplan on how they plan to treat each issue. I wish I could tell everyone more. On a positive note when Michelle isn't so sedated she is opening her eyes when we talk to her, she knows we are there. The doctors really want her to rest so we can't talk to her too much. We have a long road ahead of us and we are cautiously optimistic. Marley had her first doctor visit today and is pefectly healthy. I will let everyone know more tomorow, thanks again to all of you this group is a great outlet for our family."

This is the most recent update from her brother Rob this morning:

"No meeting with the doctor's today, not til Tuesday. The plan today is to ween her off of all of the sedatives that she is on and check for neurological function. When she is coming off of the sedatives it is really hard on Shellie, she goes thru about 12 hours of DT'S. I find it ironic that my sister rarely drinks and never touched a drug in her life and now she is going thru DT'S. I told the doctor that I didn't think she had much brain function before she came in the hospital (couldn't resist). I will let everyone know as soon as I here more. Rob"

Man! Her poor body is being beaten to a pulp with all this!!

Please, keep the prayers coming everyone!

    Hug!
