Over a week ago, my right big toe, on the bottom, started going numb (it feels asleep and numb, I dunno it's weird). Since I'm on campus, the closest medical center is here and I went there. Last week, I saw an FNP on campus and he had me get some blood tested to see what the cause is. He's under the impression that it's a warning sign of either diabetes or high cholesterol. High cholesterol seems to run in my family, diabetes does not.
I think the only thing that has me sort of calm is the fact that I'm going home tomorrow evening. I am so nervous to find out what the blood tests have to say. If it turns out that those are normal, it means something else is wrong and that really scares me.
Oddly enough, I hurt that toe pretty badly two years ago. It still hurts, but not where my toe is numb.
Has anyone ever had anything like this happen? How do you stay calm when you have no idea what to expect?

This is the point where FAITH ( doesn't matter what brand) comes into play....worrying isn't going to change anything except your stress level, and this isn't an emergency..Thank goodness.

When my kids were little and we needed some personal time if they knocked on the closed door the answer from us was...

    Are you bleeding?
    Throwing up?
Is the phone ringing ?( in the days before answering machines, OMG I'm OLD!!):smokin:

If the answer was no, then it wasn't necessary to bother mom and dad, or worry about it at that time....so (if this all makes sense) I wouldn't worry until something shows up.

Just a total stab in the dark...maybe this is a result of the past injury, perhaps you had nerve damage and the nerves are finally growing back, a better something to ponder at least:smile:

So, keep us posted, we'll push some god (now there's a typo for you....freudian slip?Nope not gonna change it, too strange:flowerforyou: ) karma your way!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

  • Thanks <3
I'll let you know what they say when I get back.
  • So my sugar levels were fine, so were my ldl levels. The only thing he didn't like was the fact that my hdl was 34. He told me to consider seeing a neurologist if it gets worse, but health wise I appear to be fine. Aside from being fat (He said it more tactfully than that, but still). He mentioned that it could just be a pinched nerve. He told me to get out and walk more than what I've already been doing and see if it gets worse or improves.

sounds like good news! there are so many weird things that can happen with feet, or at least it seems that way when you dance and hang out with other dancers! are your shoes the right size? do you ever where heels? do you have high/low/no arches? maybe try a podiatrist if it really bothers you...

great news that its not something serious!
