I need to make guacamole tomorrow and need to ripen my avacados- quickly. I have them in a brown bag with some apples, but I need to know how long this will take. And, does anyone else have any other ideas?

You can microwave them, maybe for 30 seconds at a time until they are the right consistency, I would chill them after that though. Good luck!

I put mine in a sunny window. It may take about a day if they aren't too green. I've never microwaved as mentioned above, but maybe it's the same concept.

If you had a banana in they'd be ripe tomorrow. I've never heard of apples helping them ripen quickly.

i'd go with the banana... they give off a gas that ripens other fruit apparantly

To speed up the ripening process it helps to pick off the little stem piece on the end of the avocado.

Ok...going to get some bananas! They never make it for long around here, my kids eat them so fast so I'll hide them :)
    Thanks for all the advice!
