Question to late night workers

I work in retail and a few nights of the week I don't get home until 10 or 11. On these nights it is SOOO HARD not to eat when I get home. I don't have any energy left to do anything else but watch some tv and pass out. The trouble is that my natural habit is to go for food when I get home from work. I've been doing it for so many years and this is the hardest habit to break. What do you do when you work late?

    I work until 10pm as well. I try to save some fruit or something light for my evening snacking. My problem is more that I don't eat & crash, I'm up until 2-3am. I try to drink lots of water in the evening too.
  • I work until 11:30 pm and don't get home until 12:30 am. I'm usually up for a few hours or so. I just go about my day as if it were normal light hours I'm awake, but usually I'm not up until about 11:00 in the morning. I eat my meals and snacks the same as I would if I weren't on a night schedule.

    I work 3 nights a week til midnight. I take my dinner break sometime between 7 and 9 and make sure I have a real Dinner so I don't have more than a light snack when I get home if that. If I'm not working, I have my dinner at that same time. Make sure on nights when you don't work late that you have dinner at approx the same time so you train your body to want and expect food on that schedule. Make it more about the time and not about "when you get home". I often have hummus and wheat thins or grits, something light, if I need something when I get home.
