I am new to MFP. Since I exercise almost everyday it brings my calories past 2000. That seems super high since I am trying to loose weight. I eat until I am full and it's usually just under or just over 1200. There are times when my net calories are in the negative! Can someone please tell me how to fix that? Thanks

If you're eating 1200 and burning say 800, you don't have to eat them. As long as you're eating 1200ish (or whatever you 'need' for your current weight, etc.) calories and you're eating 'proper' food that's good for you, you don't have anything to worry about. You don't have to eat all your calories, just enjoy them disappearing! :)

That's what I do! I try to stick to 1200 or so per day, even if i workout and burn an extra 600 calories or more, I like to leave those calories alone, especially since it takes burning 3500 calories to lose 1 lb. It seems to be working well for me. =) Good luck!!

You guys are telling her to stick with 1200, you don't even know how much she weighs. You want to lose at a rate thats going to be sustainable. Go with what mfp suggests, and then eat all or most of what you burn. your body needs those calories, focus more on what you are eating, if you are having trouble losing try changing up what your eating first. I was at 1200, at 127 pounds,I ate what I burned, I was struggling with losing, and added calories, so now I'm at 1380 per day, eating what I burn, and I lost consistently since.

Thanks for the responses! Becky-I am not having trouble losing. So far I have lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks. If I eat more calories won't I end up gaining wait? I am eating 4-5 times a day. I am full at the end of the day and can't reach the goal MFP has for me. Can you suggest something that I can do differently?

    Also not 'telling', advising.

Eat more calorie dense foods so it'll add calories but not the amount of food you eat. If you haven't already, eat nuts and avocados or add olive oil to your cooking. Also, eat fuller fat foods (don't be scared...it's not the fat that makes you fat but extra calories).

2000 may seem like a lot but if you're exercising as much as you say and you can trust the amount of calories burned (like they come from a heart rate monitor), you need to fuel your body...ESPECIALLY if you're only eating 1200 to begin with. When you set up your calorie goals on mfp, you most likely picked to lose 1 or 2 lbs a week which means you already have that deficit built into your calorie goals which, in turn, means your exercise calories are building a bigger deficit.

Oh, and you probably WILL gain some weight if you've been netting in the negatives but that's just your body saying, "Holy crap! I'm finally getting some sustenance! Better keep it around in case she goes crazy again and forgets to feed me."
