Hey Ali,
Just whisper in their ear and ask them very nicely to leave. They'll listen to you.:happy:0 -
Get yourself a little container and fill it up with half vinegar and half water and cover the top with saran wrap and poke holes in it...
muhahahaha
Those lil fruit flies won't know what hit 'em! lol0 -
You can keep bananas in the fridge, too. That might help a little with them.
I know ... they are super annoying.

They're everywhere here, too.
Of course, it doesn't help that this time of year is when they begin to spray something on the tomato fields to kill the plants, leaving literally MILLIONS and MILLIONS of rotting tomatoes in fields all over the place. I go on my rides past those fields, and it smells like a trash dump. It attracts all kinds of insects and other animals. Not to even mention the absurd waste of food... :sick:0 -
thanks guys! its like this little rascal wants to see what I'm posting he keeps flying by the screen LMBO....I'm gonna get him....his fly bys are numbered!!!
:smokin:

Where do you put the container once it's 'prepped' -- just out anywhere??
I also thought if you're not keeping your fruit out where the fruit flies get at it, it could be BREAD that's attracting them. Anywhere there is a loaf of bread or empty beer cans or bottles that are not rinsed out, you will have little yeast flies. These are fruit flies cousins. Lucky, they get to stay drunk all the time. Seriously.0 -

Put it where ever you're having the problem with the flies.
We put ours on the cupboard counter and by the sink, etc =o)0 -

what a nice life for them LOL...but hmmm the bread is usually out and wrapped up tightly....and no beer cans...BUT tons of gatorade bottles in the recycle bin...(hubby's fav) and I rinse them out still I'm betting the tiniest sweet scent attracts them....time to move the bin to the garage let them party in there w/ all hubbies tools and stuff for the yard sale we never ever have....LMBO...thanks for the tips and good to know i'm not alone!:drinker:0 -

Hey now!!!!:grumble: I thought we were friends:brokenheart:
The fruitflies can only come here if you come with them...and that's my final offer.:glasses:0 -
Ugh those little buggers drive me nuts! I did have a few flying around my sick drain- so I hit it with bleach for a week, they died down and on occasion I see a few. They are sooooo annoying!0
-
I keep our banannas in the microwave... a bit annoying when I need to use it but the flies cannot seem to find their way in!
Good luck!0 -
Yes, especially the last month or so! We probably go through three bunches of bananas a week at least...(between the three of us). Those and grape tomatoes are my sons favs! If I don't have those around he will get mighty upset! lol! And the grape tomatoes seem to be a fav of the fruit flies as well!!! Dag nabit!!! :grumble: :grumble:0
-
Oh yeah.....once the tomatoes and peaches start to ripen they think screens are just sobriety tests!
I'll just add one bit to the home remedy....an open dish of vinegar and water with just one drop of dish soap....drowns the little buggers! Never tried the saran wrap, but sure might enhance the trap effect, thanks!
One more reason to enjoy the cool nights...means the ff's start to go!
One of those things that make you go hmmmmm....
It's January here in the frozen north....you open a bottle of wine...( soup's gonna stop over...) and what appears??? A tiny kamikaze fruit fly...where DID he come from???
Hmmmmmmmmm????0 -
Hey jackeh... I found someone you might like to meet! :laugh:0
-
So Ali,
Are the fruit flies gone yet?0
