Hi All,
My name is John and I work from home as a Microsoft Xbox escalation specialist. I'm 40 and live with my wife of 14 years in Downingtown, PA. I weigh in at a massive 430 pounds (422 now) 6 feet tall. If you view my profile you will see a picture from last month while we visited an Aquarium in Virgina Beach, VA. Having overcome every life challenge except for my weight. I came to the realization last month that it was time to do right by my wife and loose the weight before I start having health issues. We considered bypass surgery (BMI 58) then at the last minute after making an appointment for a stress test I changed my mind and decided that I would get serious. I did loose all my weight when I was 21 on Nutra System. It lead to me meeting my beautiful wife and marriage but I quickly regained the weight shortly into our 5 year courtship. She weighs in at 155 and stands 5.10" tall and NEVER gains weight no matter how much she eats. Me, I once peaked at 470 pounds a few years ago before switching to Atkins. Over the past 2 years or so I was able to drop down to around 425-430 and maintain the weight loss because of my low carb diet. Binge eating aside on days off the diet I maintained the weight with no exercise. That all changed 15 days ago and I have walked 3 miles per hour for 1 mile (including steep hill) once a day for 15 days straight. Along with that I decided to take over most of the household cleaning task from the wife and keep busy after I finish my shift around 1PM EST. Before this I had a 5 second commute through the hall to my office, 8 hours of sitting in front of a computer then laying around all day watching TV. Now I custom designed a 1,200 - 1,500 cal per day diet with 75-125 carb per day limit eating 3 meals a day plus two snacks. Add some good vitamins, exercise, daily housework and some music and I feel awesome!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! Thank you for reading...

John,
Congrats on your decision to make a change. It has been the hardest step for me. To actually decided to change and not just whine about wanting to change.
I hope to hear more about your journey and your successes!0 -
Welcome!
If I may suggest work hard, set goals and go past them every time. However, try to make a more gradual change that you can permanently incorporate into your life style.
I too often see friends make too drastic and sudden a change, resent it after a couple months and just give up. Creating a new body requires a new mindset that you will have to carry instead of the extra weight for life.0 -
Wanted to say Welcome Aboard!! MFP has been a really great experience so far, and I wish you well on what's to come!0
