I weighed myself this morning, first time in a month, and despite having been not eating much due to a bug, and having been training for my race in 3 weeks, I have only dropped 1lb. Which was to be expected really, as I haven't lost any inches either, though people say I look thinner.

I know my exercise is ok. I think my diet is ok. What I don't do right is sleep. I rarely get more than 5 hours of sleep a night, and haven't for the last 6 years, and I think it's taking it's toll. So my mission for the next month is to be in bed by 11pm, and get at least 7 hours a night.

Hoping this works.

    I think it will!

There are many studies linking insufficient sleep to being overweight and especially to belly fat. Lack of sleep produces too much cortisol, which raises your appetite and promotes fat storage. Lack of sleep also deprives your muscles of an adequate recovery period after exercise.

I have insomnia 5 hours a night is a cause for celebration for me. 5 hours with no sleep interruption at all is a reason to party.
