The enemy: stress or myself?

So, things have been pretty crazy lately. My husband has been gone for training (he's in the Marine Corps) since the end of April, we're in the process of a half-way-across-the-country move, trying to find a house (but given very little time to do so in typical Marine Corps fashion) in a city we know nothing about, dealing with a cranky toddler who is confused and misses her Daddy, and the list could go on and on and on....
However, my complaints are not the point of this entry. Instead, I am hoping to discover something about myself...about how other people deal with issues like this. When the world is coming at you a mile a minute, do we hunker down and find comfort in the things that are easy? Or do we stand our ground and face the wind? The easy road is not always the smartest. For me, the easy road is full of too much sitting, too much food, and too much self pity. Facing the wind...the smartest path, although not easy, is full of self-esteem, control, and a sense of accomplishment? Why wallow in the self pity when the rewards waiting along the harder path are so great?
Today, I write to tell you all--to remind myself-- that stress is not always the enemy. Sometimes, it's simply ourselves. It's not always the situation...perhaps it's mostly our mindset.

I completely agree with you! Sometimes it is hard because we get caught in the moment of fury, but it is good to look at the larger picture.
Thanks for your post, it was a great motivator and reminder!0 -
Great post and what I needed to hear as well. I, too, am dealing with the stresses of being a military wife and mom on top of many other things....it's easy to let it all get you down and stress you out, but you're right! it's not as much about the stresses in life, but how we react to them...tired of letting them defeat me!0

WOW...very true words...and just what I needed to hear...correction..what we ALL need to hear. Thank you for sharing this and for reminding me that I can be my own worst enemy, but that doesn't mean I can't change!0

I think you military wives and moms are the forgotten heros! You women have so much to do ALWAYS and a lot of times without your husbands present. I can't even imagine. Sam, this is an awesome post, thank you for being such a positive MFP. I love ya girl!0
