Anyone Dealing With/Know Someone With Dissociative Identity

This is just a curiosity question as my boyfriend and I watched the movie Primal Fear last night and I find psychology very interesting. I was just wondering if anyone knows what it's like to actually have to deal with that? In the movie he didn't know what was happening to himself, but I know there are different cases where the person is aware but cannot control it. Anyways, I'm sorry if this offends anyone, I'm just very interested in this subject. Has anyone seen any other movies involving situations like these?
Thanks! :)

Just realized my title got cut off** it's Dissociative Identity Disorder

My mom is and has her whole life. It is not easy but she is doing great now. Its up and downs for her but she stays on her meds.

I have a friend whose girlfriend suffers from it as well but I have not met her yet. Glad to hear your mom is doing well now :)

A few years ago I had a friend who was dealing with this. It was very fascinating, though horrifying what she went through. She is also doing very well, now, after some years in therapy.

Wasn't the movie and book,"Sophie's Choice" about that? I think it was a real life adaptation to movie based on a book I read - the main character, a woman, was involved in the Halocaust and developed DID as a result.
