Should I give up my scale?

I have been on at the same weight for about a week. I know it doesn't seem like a long time. I hate getting on the scale and not seeing a lower number.
I am really focused and Im playing by all the rules. I have taken measurements and I know my stupid weight. I am a compulsive, weigh everyday, type of girl... Im seriously considering giving the scale a break for a month.
If I stay on track and keep up my fitness and healthy eating habits, I should be good. Im sick of getting on the scale and seeing the same damn number. :-( IF I do this and I end up gaining weight or only losing a pound then I will regret wasting a month of no scale......How could that happen if I'm doing everything like I should?? Im so frustrated.

What should I do?

Imagine seeing the same number for a month :( that's me right now. I gave up the scale for 3 weeks only to get back on it and see a gain. I'm thinking about giving up logging food...i think it makes me eat too much.

Best gauge of your weight loss success will be to keep a pair of jeans or pants that you think are too tight to wear now. Try them on once a month. When you are able to fit in to them comfortably, you are making progress! There is no better feeling than going down a jean size!

There are so many fluctuations with weighing yourself...esp. the water retention thing. I'd say, give up the scale for awhile, play by the rules, and you'll do fine. Slow and steady wins the race! Be patient.

Exactly good advice , and my advice would be if you can be strict about what and how much you eat , you can be strict with yourself about when you weigh yourself , it's all about self control , so don't let the scales control you , take control back

I can completely see getting out that dreaded scale only to see I have gained. With this workout Im doing I highly doubt that is possible. Im reading all of the advice given and I will take everything into consideration. I have a goal of September....I don't want to mess it up because of my scale fears. lol Thanks for the feedback.

Best quote I ever saw was something along the lines of; "I’ve divorced my scale. Packed him up and threw him out. He was verbally abusive, unsupportive and sabotaged every attempt I have made (past and present) to achieve my goals and get my life in order."

Measure yourself regularly (Hip, Waist, Arms and Thighs are good ones) and, celebrate ALL your Non-Scale Victories (NSV) (e.g. eating out and making the right choices, workout achievements, an old dress you can fit once again etc). That’s what keep me going.

You can do it , you've already lost 5lbs , you'll have weeks where you might plateau , it happens to all of us , i think the body feels it's being starved because of the change of intake of cals , so what i do to kick start my body into losing again is to have the odd naughty day , it does the trick , then i just get right back on track again ........... i've lost 13lbs in 5 months , with very little exercise , but i am a very active person because of my job.

keep going you'll make it !!!!!
