Kiwis are one of my favorite fruits, but it always seems like I either get ones that are soft, smushy, and yucky, or the ones that are still kind of hard and taste sour, even a little bitter sometimes. How do you pick a good kiwi?

I get the harder ones and wait a few days.

It depends on how long until you're going to want to eat one. I go for ones that are a little soft to the touch - you can make an indent but there's still a little firmness underneath.

They're only bitter/sour when they haven't fully ripened.

I buy the huge packs of kiwi from Costco...I bought a pack two weeks ago, and I've ate about half of it. The other half isn't ripe yet. I usually get under-ripe ones and wait until they get squishy.
